How results are measured

All speeds use the standard five-characters-per-word convention. The timer starts with your first character and runs for the full selected duration. Net WPM divides the correct characters remaining at the end by five and by the test duration in minutes (backspacing a correct character removes it from the count). Raw WPM divides every character keystroke by five and by the test duration in minutes - it includes incorrect characters, but it does not backspaces. Peak speed and lowest speed are the highest and lowest points on the rolling speed trace. Consistency measures how much your rolling speed varies around its average on a scale from 0-100.

Accuracy divides correct character keystrokes by all character keystrokes. Error rate is the percentage which were incorrect. Backspace presses are excluded from both accuracy and error rate. Mistakes are incorrect character keystrokes (including presses even if they are fixed). Corrected mistakes were fixed before the end, while uncorrected mistakes were still unresolved when time ran out.

Speed chart plots the net WPM once per second using a three-second rolling window - red markers show seconds that contained mistakes. Key heatmaps cover the 26 letter keys. Correct presses are credited to the key which was typed, while mistakes are credited to the key which was meant to be typed. Average key speed is the delay since the previous printable keystroke, averaged for each key, and shown in milliseconds (first keystroke has no delay sample).
